Lucasfilm didn’t want Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to be about the Jedi - guildwiffor

Respawn Entertainment has revealed that it had to "earn" the right to make Genius Wars Jedi: Dead Order about the Jedi, as Lucasfilm had its personal ideas near the adaptation (via GameSpot).

In an consultation featured on AIAS Game God Almighty's podcast, game director Stig Asmussen described how the early development of what would become Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Gild went down. Initially, Lucasfilm didn't respond positively to Respawn's estimate to take in a game about the Jedi. "They weren't super comfortable with the theme," recalled Asmussen. "I inclined, 'Hey, what if we do a game about Jedi and Military unit powers,' and they were not super comfortable therewith. They threw it back and said, 'What about blasters and bounty hunters?'"

Asmussen pushed rear, and told Lucasfilm that that sort of set finished wouldn't fully utilize the expertise that Respawn has taken along ended the years. "That's not the desktop of the team up we've built; you might as well ask me and United States to pop edifice a racing back at this steer. I don't think anybody's going to constitute happy with the results of that," he aforesaid. But he respected Lucasfilm's protectiveness concluded the Jedi, and, despite multiple "hard nos" on multiple ideas, the developer did "realise" the right to use the Jedi in its game. "What I came to memorise is for them, Jedi is the Sanctified Holy Grail. To make a game about Jedi, you gotta earn it. There was a puny bit of a backward and forward but they could see where I was coming from," summarised Asmussen.

Lucasfilm owns the rights to the Virtuoso Wars dimension, and so there wasn't a lot of joggle room for Respawn to piece of work with from the get-go. Nonetheless, the creative differences were settled, and we got Superstar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which follows a Force-user who isn't a full fledged Jedi. Josh really likedFallen Order, praising the Sekiro-in-space combat and chipper droid companion, and reckons that a sequel would be genuinely something.
